Things go from good to bad to worse as an unfair ultimatum leaves Tristan fighting for his girl once again. Ginny must decide once and for all if she’s willing to fight for him, or walk away and never look back.

Were the past few months she spent in Tristan's bed, his arms and his life just a farce? Does he even care?

...or is blood really thicker than water?

  Book 3

  Chapter 1 — Ginny

I sat in the airport and watched people as they rushed around to wherever they were going. I started to doze and I knew I’d have to get some sleep before my plane left the next day, so I let my eyes close gently while still taking in the sounds of the busy airport around me. The adrenaline that had kept me alert was wearing off, but I didn’t want to move from my spot in case some miracle happened and Tristan showed up.

No doubt about it, England had some very hot men, but not as hot as my Tristan. I thought about the way his face scrunched up when he took me, his eyes full of lust and passion. I thought about the way his chest muscles tightened as he went crazy, pounding into me. I thought about his tattoos; he told me they were supposed to be intimidating, but I found them painfully sexy. Just thinking about him made my lady parts tingle. No one had ever wanted me so bad in my life. Never. I just didn’t understand why he hadn’t come to get me, yet.

I opened my eyes and pulled out my phone to text him again, and as I waited for the wi-fi to connect, it dawned on me that England was so different from the States. I noticed some people actually dressed up pretty fancy to travel, like it was a big occasion. I hadn’t seen that back home and maybe I was feeling vulnerable, sitting there on my own, but it felt like they were looking down their noses at me. I didn’t look like a bum in my dark jeans, black and white polka dotted blouse and black patent flats, but maybe they could tell I was lost, or alone or something.

Personally, I loved my casual look and although I’d wanted a tattoo for a long time, working at Westin Reed meant that unfortunately, I couldn’t have one. However, I’d planned to get a little one done on my thigh while I was here, something classy and unobtrusive. Tristan’s tats were so perfectly done; I was going to ask him to take me to the studio that did his. If he’d ever show up. I’d hoped he would have been here by now, but then again, I didn’t even know if he knew I was here.

I launched Skype and while I watched the screen log me in, I heard a woman’s voice call out “Tristan…? Yoo-hoo! Tristan, is that you?”

Tristan? There were probably thousands of men called Tristan here but I snapped my head around so fast, I almost broke my neck when I heard his name.

She called out again, “Oh Tristan…” her voice trailed off as my heart pounded and blazing heat crept up my cheeks. My jaw dropped as my eyes focused on the woman and all around me, I heard the faint buzz of other passengers ringing in my ears. Before I realized what was happening, the blonde bitch threw her skinny and over-tanned arms around what looked like my man. Fuck! Was it my Tristan? As she wrapped herself more tightly around him, I came to my senses, jumped to my feet, grabbed my bag and wheeled it towards them.

They must have been thirty feet away, and as I scooted around a big pot of greenery. I never took my eyes off them. My heart broke in two as I got closer and realized it was my Tristan with this hoochie. I stopped behind the planter so they couldn’t see me and watched them talk. I felt like my whole world came crashing down around me as I struggled to hold back the tears. Who is this bitch? And who the fuck wears stilettos to the airport? He smiled as he took her hands from the back of his neck, dropped them down and held them in his own. I hated to admit it, but I was right. That was my Tristan and the English bitch I’d wondered about. I’d seen enough. This was my cue to go. As tears streamed down my face, I turned my back on them and hurried to the ticket agent. “Hi, I’ll take that room at the Hilton if it’s still available.”

She smiled sympathetically. I’m sure I looked a hot mess by now and with genuine concern in her face she asked, “Are you all right, miss?”

“I am now.” I answered, wiping my face on the sleeve of my blouse. “In fact, I’m freakin’ wonderful.”

“That room is still available. May I see your ticket and passport, please?”

As I fished them out of my purse, I asked her to hurry. I didn’t want to run into Tristan and his fucking chicky anytime soon. She smiled, nodded and quickly typed my information into the computer.

I glanced around sheepishly, praying I wouldn’t see Tristan and the stiletto-wearing hoochie mama as she gave me my ticket back and said “Right up the escalator to the left. Just hand them this voucher at the hotel reception. You’re all set.”

“Thank you,” I replied and I hurried up the escalator to my sanctuary for the night.

As soon as I got to the room, I threw my bags down, pulled out my tablet and logged into the hotel’s wi-fi. I started Skype, hoping to talk to Kari. It was already getting late in England so I counted the hours on my fingers and knew she’d be at work. I prayed she’d be on. The familiar ring came through my headphones and her face popped up on the screen...

“Hi Gin! You okay?” She asked in a whisper. “I just got off break, so glad to see you. You’re still coming home tomorrow aren’t you?”

“Not really.” I whispered, trying to hold back the tears that wanted to flow again. “I’m at the Hilton. It’s in the airport and guess who I saw?”

  “Tristan?”

“Yeah, the asshole.” I mumbled that last part.

“What? Why are you in a hotel?” Her voice got louder.

I took a deep breath, trying to keep my composure but I couldn’t. Hot, salty tears fell down my face as I started to cry. “I was— sitting on a bench, just — just people watching and— and—hold on I gotta blow.”

  “Okay babe,” she whispered an
d looked around to make sure no one was listening to her.

I blew my nose and took a long breath. I had to stop crying. I just had to. It was bad enough I’d spent not only my savings, but Kari’s too and I had no idea how I was going to pay her back. “Okay, so anyway, I was sitting there and just as I pulled my phone out to message him, you know, just in case? I heard this English lady hollering out Tristan! Yoo-hoo! I know there are probably a million Tristan’s here, but of course I looked anyway. And guess what?”

“No?” she moved in closer to the screen. “He was there?”

“Yep! Some skinny blonde bitch with big bazooka tits, and fucking stilettos went over and wrapped her skinny ass arms around my Tristan! MY fucking Tristan!”

“Oh my God honey, what did you do?” By the look on her face, I could tell she was worried.

Tears streamed down my cheeks again. “Care bear, I’m sorry. This trip cost so much and I don’t know when I can pay you back. I just wanted to surprise him. I— I just slipped into the shadows, I didn’t want them to see me,” I bawled. “I just got this room and called you.”

Her eyes narrowed. If I knew Kari, she was already scheming. “You didn’t go all bat shit crazy on him?”

“No, I wanted to, but I got scared. I just— Oh, Kari, what am I going to do?”

“You are going to get on that plane tomorrow and bring your sweet ass home. I’ll take care of this dickhead.”

“No— wait. What are you going to do?”

“I’ll take care of it baby, just you wait. Don’t worry your pretty little head. Get some sleep. I’m sure you’re exhausted.”

“Yeah I kind of am. And I miss you.” I smiled a little I-need-you smile. “Thanks for being so amazing under all that snark.”

“I miss you too, Gin. Call me when you get up. I’ll leave Skype open on my phone. It’ll be okay, you’ll be home soon and we can pick up the pieces.”

I sniffled again, wiping my eyes. “Okay, I love you. You’re the best friend a girl could ever have.”

Kari smiled. “Thanks and I love you too, girl. It’ll all work out, I promise. Shit! I gotta go, old man Westin is coming, bye.” She winked and hung up.

I waved at her and said goodbye. I had no idea how I was going to sleep with all the fucked up thoughts going on in my head, but jet lag had settled in and before long, I was sound asleep.

  Chapter 2 — Tristan

I opened the car door and slid into the driver’s seat. Mike opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something and I looked at him and shook my head. “I missed her, mate. I ran all the way across the fucking terminal like an idiot and I missed her.”

“When will she be home? Can you call her yet?” Mike was a great friend, the best. Even though he was more of a one-night stand kind of guy, he understood. He wasn’t the least bit annoyed I’d left him to deal with the police, and if he was, he didn’t show it.

“Yeah, I’ll Skype her tomorrow. I just can’t believe she came all the way across the pond to see me. Fuck!” I hit the steering wheel with my hand. “I’m so fucking stupid.”

“Relax T! You didn’t even know she was coming, now can we go? I’m thirsty.”

I started the car and pulled out of the drop-off zone. “Yeah, and to top it off, that bitch Vanessa was in the terminal. Can you believe that? She said something about my dad hiring her as an assistant to the new guy he’s employed to get the project started in America. I still can’t believe my dad does half the shit he does.” I looked over at Mike. He was grinning from ear to ear and I knew he had something up his sleeve.

I pulled up to The Victoria, our favorite watering hole and parked the car. “Uh—mate?” Mike asked, his smile wavering. “We can’t walk in here like this.”

“Why not? Don’t tell me after the day I’ve had that you’re too much of a pansy to go into the pub with your leg like that. You’re hurt man, that’s all. It’s okay.”

“No, T, you’re the one who probably doesn’t want to go in there looking like that.” He looked over at me and gestured his hand toward the seat but I was oblivious to whatever it was he was pointing at.

“What? Why not? Come on, Mike. We’re wasting valuable drinking time here.” I got out of the car and went to help Mike hobble into his wheelchair.

“Okay, it’s your choice, my friend!” He smirked.

“What?” I pushed his chair up the ramp from the car park, found a table close to the door and ordered two pints of lager. “Oh I’ve been meaning to ask since we left the airport, how did you manage to get rid of the police?”

Mike burst out laughing before he answered. “It’s what I’ve been trying to tell you since we pulled up here. I told them you ate some bad fish and had to run to the toilet before you crapped yourself.” He had that cheeky grin on his face as he continued, “Remember the food parcel my mum brought in to the hospital for me yesterday?”

  “Yeah?”

“Well, I found a chocolate bar in it and it had melted in the bag so I spread it all over your seat. One look at that and they took off without even giving us a ticket!”

I sat up and looked at Mike. “You fucking what? You put chocolate on my—”

“Yeah, so guess what you’ve been sitting in?” he cut in with a smirk.

“Bloody hell Mike! How the fuck am I supposed to drive my car with that on the seat? Now I’ve got to get it cleaned, you tosser!”

“Chill out man. What the fuck was I supposed to do? I had to think fast. Did you want a ticket?”

I stood up and turned my head to look at the back of my jeans and was horrified to find a dubious looking brown stain on them. I’d walked right up to the pub from the car with that on there. No wonder people were sniggering at me. “Shit! No, I guess not but fuck—”

Normally, I would have left to get cleaned up, but it was late and I was in need of a pint as much as he was.

I had to laugh. “Yeah, I’ve got to hand it you, it was a smart move alright.” With all the bullshit happenings of the day, I had to admit, Mike came through for me with the traffic cops.

I called the waitress over for another round and threw some cash on her tray. We usually ordered at the bar, but I wasn’t about to get up with chocolate on my arse and I didn’t want to send Mike to the bar in a wheelchair.

The time flew and before we knew it, it was 2am. The pub was getting ready to close and as I sipped my last Coke, I thought about Ginny for the hundredth time that day. I looked over at Mike to say something about it and noticed his head was hanging down. “You all right man?”

“No, I’m fucked up, mate.” He raised his head a little, his eyes rolled back and he mumbled, “I really don’t feel well.”

“You don’t look good either, kind of pale. Maybe drinking lager wasn’t such a good idea with that medication you’re on?” I’d normally have been worried about him, but he was laughing so hard at the state of my jeans, I knew he’d be okay.

“Come on, let’s go. You can stay at my place, it’ll be easier.” Luckily, it was dark now, so my embarrassing stain wasn’t obvious. I wheeled Mike back to the car park and as soon as I’d stuffed him in the car and thrown his wheelchair into the boot, we were headed back to my penthouse.

I think the combination of his medication and the alcohol must have done something to fry his brain as no sooner had I got him into the elevator at my place, he started talking crap like ‘I love you man’ and babbling on about God only knows what. I just wanted to get him upstairs and into bed so he could sleep it off when I heard the familiar sound of the Skype app ringing on my phone.

I grabbed it from my pocket, saw Ginny’s profile pic and answered it as fast as I could. “Hello, Ginny? Whe—“

“You fucking son of a bitch! How could you do tha—?”

“Kari? Is that you?” I could barely get a word in over her rant. “Calm down a minute.”

Unfortunately, Mike seemed to lose the ability to filter anything that came into his head before speaking it out loud and chime
d in to my embarrassment with “That’s not that Kari bird is it? That one in the pic you showed me with Ginny? She looks well-fit man, I bet she fucks like a rabbit. Tell her Mike will sort her out.”

“Oh no …he did not just say that! You tell that stupid motherfucker friend of yours to go to hell!” she screamed in my ear.

“Mike! Shut the fuck up a minute will you! Look Kari, I need to know where’s Ginny. I got her message and I—”

Kari cut me off and yelled again, “Don’t even think about trying your bullshit on with me. I’m calling from her laptop if you must know, you bastard. That’s how I tracked your sorry ass down and I’ve heard all about that fuckin’ blonde-haired bitch you had hanging around your neck at the airport. I can’t believe you would do this to Gin! What kind of man are you?”

“Kari, I know you’re angry but please hang on just one minute. I’m walking through my front door right now then let me explain.” As I stepped inside the apartment, I flicked on some lights and wheeled Mike across the wooden floor to the balcony window overlooking the city. “Just give me a few minutes to sort this out Mike. Amuse yourself will you?”

A silly grin crept across his face, “Well I was thinking of a little dancing or maybe some acrobatics…but how the fuck am I supposed to do that with my leg in plaster?”

He was the best friend a guy could have but the timing of his jokes could be a little off so I grinned back through gritted teeth, “Well use your fucking imagination! In case you haven’t noticed, I am getting my ass chewed big time by Ginny’s best friend. Look out the bloody window, read a magazine, watch TV, play with your tiny dick for all I care. I’ll be back soon, ok?”

“Yeah, yeah. I’ll think of something but tell that Kari we’re definitely on for a date if ever she makes it over to London. I think I’m in lust with her.”

I mouthed ‘NO…FUCKING…WAY!’ at him as I walked into the kitchen, sat down and looked at the screen. Kari had clearly just got off work, and if looks could have killed, I would have been a dead man. “I’m sorry about that Kari, his meds are kicking in and messing with his mind. Now please calm down and tell me what’s going on. Where’s Gin and what blonde woman? What are you talking about?”
