  Book Description

Pepper Anderson has a reputation that precedes her—and thanks to a little alcohol, her late-night antics and the never-ending attention of the paparazzi, she’s always front page news.

Her ‘friend with benefits’, Jonathan Church, is confident, commanding, and hotter than hell! When they're together, they’re spontaneous, careless and passionately reckless. He’s also Destiny Beach’s richest playboy and he wants Pepper all to himself.

To stay out of jail for her latest shenanigans and to get back in Daddy’s good graces, Pepper takes on a job as an intern at Sea Lab—a sea life theme park with stinky, smelly fish—and Gabriel Gregory, her new boss.

The mere sight of him takes her breath away, and his voice makes her knees weak. Gabe is at the top of his professional game. He’s smart, quiet and keeps his distance from the limelight of Destiny Beach's rich and famous.

Pepper wants him. Gabe wants her as well—or so he thinks—until their first date and he ends up in the middle of Peppers chaotic life. He can't deny the feelings he has for her, but will he be able to stay in control? Will Jonathan Church let her go?

  Chapter One — Pepper

My high-heeled foot dangled out the car window and the wind blasted through my blonde hair, sending it swirling around my face. In the driver’s seat was Jonathan Church, arrogant bad boy, and my most recent lover. He grinned at me as his dark hair fluttered around his perfect face. He looked like a Greek god with his perfectly straight nose, full lips, and sultry eyes. I giggled, maybe it was just the champagne. The radio blasted and we sailed into the dark night along the Glass Beach Highway. I’d wanted to stay at the party a little longer, I mean, I hadn’t even jumped in the pool yet, but Church wanted me all to himself. I smiled at him—I wanted him too.

“Still want to go swimming? The beach is just a mile away.”

I pretended to pout by poking my lip out. “No sand. I don’t need that kind of exfoliation.” I took a big swig from the open champagne bottle I’d taken from the party. “Where else can we go? You know I love to swim.” I reached over and rubbed his hair, “Hey look! We can go swim there!” I pointed at the massive dolphin fountain that led to Veteran’s Highway. “I’ve always wanted to jump in there!”

“And so you shall, Pepper!” he laughed. We pulled up in front of the fountain and I stumbled out of the car, spilling champagne all over my dress.

“Oh shit! Church! This is a Dumonte dress.” I kicked off my shoes and tossed them into the car. I tried to ignore the honks and whistles I heard. “Fuck you!” I shouted to the irritating passers-by. I pulled the dress over my head as I sauntered over to the fountain in my black bra and thong. I didn’t mind. Church had seen me naked a million times.

Church leaned against the hood of his car with his arms folded comfortably while he watched me. He looked a bit overdressed in his jeans and cashmere sweater. I kept my bra and panties on and clumsily stepped on to the edge of the fountain. I was disappointed to see it wasn’t very deep and the water would only come up to my ankles, but at least I’d get wet. “Hello, dolphin!” I said to the statue in the center of the fountain. I jumped in and splashed the coolness onto my skin. I laid back, looked up at the stars and felt my hair swirl around me in the water. It was so peaceful and cool… “Mmmm, Church, come join—” Suddenly, lights flashed all around me—white lights, then blue lights!

“Oh, no! Not the cops.” I instantly sobered up—the magical buzz had been taken from me, and I didn’t like it. Church didn’t even try to help me—he just laughed, until the police began to approach him, then he picked my dress up off the ground and pushed through the paparazzi that had sprung up like fiends in the night. “Get out of the way! Move, you bastard.” He helped me out of the fountain and wrapped me in my dress.

“Get her out of here now or I’m taking you both to jail.” The officer pushed the paparazzi back and helped us get away from the demanding crowd.

Church grinned and closed the door behind me. My buzz had gone and so had my bottle. I was ready to go home and take a shower. “Take me home, Church,” I whined. I was good at whining and playing damsel in distress, and Jonathan Church fell for it every time.

“Aw, come on, babe. We’re going to my place, remember?”

“And now I want to go home. Take me home.”

He slid his hand over the bulge in his pants and said, “You’re going to leave me like this? Seriously?” I bit my lip and shook my head no. He scoffed, “That’s your problem, Pepper. You’re a big fucking tease.”

I was so cold and wet. I smiled at him, leaned over the seat and nibbled his ear. “Yeah, I am… but you like it.”

“You’re killing me, Pep,” he groaned.

“I know… and I like it. Now, take me home and fuck me. You can stay for a fuck, can’t you?”

He turned the car around faster than I’d expected, which swung me against the car door. “Hell yeah, I can.” He drove like a maniac back to my father’s beach house, which wasn’t far down the road on Destiny Beach. Dad wouldn’t be home for a few days and I hated being in that big old house by myself. Of course, the help would be there, but they didn’t hang out with me, or I with them. I was rich—very rich—and of course, very spoiled. I wasn’t ashamed of it. Truth was, Church was almost as rich as I was and maybe that was why we were so reckless. We had nothing to lose. Well, not much anyway, and although I knew that didn’t sound right, I was still too buzzed to attempt any deep thought.

I thought about Church and his naked body. We’d fucked before—but not recently. He’d been hanging out with some redhead, whose mother owned Rema Cosmetics. She wasn’t rich, not like us anyway, but she was making some headlines and I could see that Church loved the attention. I didn’t care though. I loved fucking him—he was all man. He had just enough muscle to make you want to squeeze them and I loved his flat stomach and nice high ass. And his cock? God, his was something out of a porn star movie—thick and long. He wasn’t just a pretty face—he was a bad boy through and through.

He pulled his Audi into the round driveway and helped me slide my dress back on. I grabbed him and kissed him, my hands tangled up in his curly hair. I pushed my body against his and moaned in his ear. I wanted him to know that I wanted him. He growled playfully in my ear then I broke free and ran away, up the concrete steps to the house.

“Come on, Church!” I laughed back at him.

I opened the door and ran through the house to the glass door that led to our pool and hot tub. I pulled my dress off again and started to slide into the pool, but Church grabbed my hand and led me back to the hot tub. I got in, smil
ed up at him, and slung my mass of wet hair back behind my shoulders. He pulled off his sweater and jeans in one smooth movement, then he was in the hot tub with me and he pulled me close. I smiled seductively at Church then without a second thought, I unhooked my bra and tossed it to the side of the tub. He smiled his crooked little smile that I loved so much and I knew what that meant. He was ready.

I curled my arms around his neck and slid my nipples back and forth across his hard chest. His skin was so soft and silky to the touch. His hands traced up my body and caressed my tits—I braced myself on his shoulders to ease slowly onto his cock. It was so hard, and big. That’s why I loved fucking Church so much—the way his cock stretched me was a touch of pain and pleasure. “Fuck me hard,” I grunted, while I bit on his bottom lip. “Yeah, Church. Fuck, yeah.” He thrust hard and I let out a yell as I felt every inch of his cock plunge into me, “Fuck! Church that hurts so fucking good. Fuck me!”

Once his cock could easily slide in and out of my pussy, I bounced up and down on him as hard and as fast as I could. My pussy was so wet and his fingers pulled and rolled my nipples until I cried out. He brought me to the edge, then his hands grabbed my hips and held me on his fat cock as he exploded inside me. “Fuck, Church! No!!” I tried to get him to pull out, but it was too late. He pulled me tight against him and crushed my lips with his—I moaned out loud and bit down on his bottom lip as I came on his glorious cock. He withdrew a little and then pounded into me like a wild animal in heat... “Fuck me! Fuck, Church!” He knew me so well, well at least the fucking part—because he slid his finger deep in my ass and I groaned as my fingernails dug into his wet shoulders and I bucked harder onto his cock and finger to get my release.

I fell panting onto his chest while the water jets gently massaged us. My body was spent. My spine could barely hold me up. Finally, I lifted my head and looked up at the stars as waves of electric shocks washed over me.

“Church, do you love me?” I whispered in his ear, though I wasn’t sure what I wanted him to say.

“Well, do you love me?” He kissed me and looked into my eyes. I didn’t answer him—no way was I going to say I loved him, because I didn’t— but I sure loved his cock.

  “You’d better go home.”

“I could stay. I’d love to fuck you all night in that big bed of yours.”

“God no, Church. I don’t want your jizz all over my bed! Ugh!”

He looked disappointed, but he helped me out of the hot tub and a few minutes later, I watched him drive away. I went upstairs and took a hot shower then fell into bed. I was having a wonderfully sweet dream—until my phone rang and wouldn’t stop. I hit the mute button then someone tapped at my door.

“Miss Pepper, your father is calling.” Rianna, our housekeeper, came in and handed me one of the house phones. I groaned and took it from her, then shoved my hair out of my face and squinted at the clock on my wall.

“Hey, Daddy! Do you have any idea what time it is?”

“Yes, I do, but I didn’t call you to talk about the time, Pepper. I suppose you don’t remember your little photo shoot last night? In front of the fountain?”

I sat up in bed and remembered my dip into the fountain with Church. “Kind of, how did you hear about it?”

“It’s all over the news, Pepper. Congratulations for making a fool out of yourself.”

“Come on, Dad. You don’t mean that. I’m not a fool.”

My father sighed on the phone. “Tell that to the police officer that called me this morning. He thinks you acted pretty stupidly. You can expect this to be on the front page of every rag magazine and newspaper for the next week. Is that what you wanted? Do you want the world thinking you’re just out for fun? Pepper, you have to start thinking about the future. What are you going to do with your life? Do you have any clue? You’re twenty-three! That’s old enough to do something besides get drunk and take skinny dips in public fountains.”

“Dad, I wasn’t skinny dipping.” That was about the only defense I had. I was twenty-three and I did spend a lot of time drinking. What could I say? I liked having fun.

“That’s not the point. Church’s parents may not care about his criminal behavior but I care about you. I love you and I want you to do better. Please promise me you’ll use your brains a little bit more?”

I hated disappointing my Dad. Besides my sister, Mills, he was my most favorite person in the world.

“Okay, Daddy. I promise. I’ll use my brains more.”

He sighed again and said, “Okay. I love you. What are your plans today?”

“I promised Aven I would help her with some project she’s working on. Think she’s redoing her bedroom again.” Sounded lame, but Aven was my best friend.

“All right, but don’t forget I’ll be home tonight. Maybe ask Rianna to cook us something? You in the mood for Italian?”

“Well, I’m sure I will be. I’ll see you tonight Dad.”

“Okay, see you then.” That was the extent of the scolding I received from Dad. He wasn’t much of a disciplinarian, but I knew he cared. Unlike my mother—her every thought was about her and she never gave me advice, encouraged me or told me that she was proud of me. Oh, fuck her. I flopped back on the fluffy white pillows to savor my moments with Church the night before. I’m sure Dad thought he was a bad influence, but truthfully, everything I’d gotten into was my own fault. Most of the time, these were my crazy ideas. I decided to get up and get dressed in case Aven called. She hadn’t given me a time, but she’d probably be here soon. It was almost eleven.

My phone rang again and I practically jumped for joy. It was Mills!

“Hiya!” she whispered into the phone. She was at boarding school and they frowned on cell phones, except in emergencies, but that didn’t stop her from calling me at least once a week.

  “Hi, Mills. How’s it going?”

“Ack! Two words—Gene Miller. He keeps asking me out, and there’s no way I’m going out with that dirt-bag, no matter how many jets his daddy has. Gross. Are you planning my party? Hmm? I know you must be. I can’t believe I’m going to be eighteen! Wow! Can you believe it?”

I suddenly felt ashamed. I hadn’t planned anything. I’d been so caught up in my own life, I’d forgotten that her birthday was just a month away. I’d have to book a venue right away. Maybe the yacht club? “Yeah, little sister, I’m on it. Can’t wait to tell you all about it!”

“Please tell me we aren’t having it at the yacht club. I hate that dingy old place. I was thinking the Glass Room—you know the new party room down by Glass Beach. I know all our friends are in Destiny Beach, but it’s only fifteen minutes away. Oh, shit! I’ve got to go! I’ll call you later. Bye!”

She hung up before I could say another word and I suddenly felt motivated to get up and get busy. Aven’s room would have to wait—I had a party to plan! I called her, “Aven, get your ass over here. I know I said I’d help you out today, but I totally forgot to start planning Mills’ party! I need your help and yes, you can bring that stupid cat, but you must know, you look fucking ridiculous leading a house cat around on a leash. Hurry up!”

  Chapter Two — Gabe

“Gabe, you’ve hardly touched your breakfast. I’m so glad I went to the trouble of cooking something. What are you reading that’s so interesting?” Dad poked his head around to sneak a peek at the headline I was reading.

“Another spoiled girl steals the headlines from the real stories. What is this girl thinking? Look…I mean at least she had on her underwear.” I scoffed as I munched a piece of bacon and then took a sip of my coffee.

“Yeah, that’s shocking. When I was your age, I was praying to spot a pretty girl with no underwear on. Now they’re all over the front page! Where did I go wrong with you, son?” Dad chuckled as he remembered something from his younger years. “And why are you being so hard on…what’s her name? Pepper?” He laughed again, “Who the hell names their kid Pepper, anyway? You know her?”

  “No, just
by name. She’s an Anderson, Doug’s oldest daughter.”

“Oh yes, Doug and Evangeline. I remember.” He shook his head slightly, as if he were remembering something.”

“Yeah, I don’t really know her. I just know who she is. I think it’s ridiculous. I guess that’s why the big news about Sea Lab didn’t make it to the front page. Spoiled rich girl takes off her dress—now that’s big news. Sea Lab gets the largest grant ever given to a non-profit aquatic facility—nothing. Not even page three. That’s just stupid.”

Dad laughed at me and swiped some of my bacon. “Not everyone is as level-headed as you are, son. That’s what makes the world go round. And don’t forget to call your mom sometime today. She’s going to need you to pick her up from the airport tomorrow I have to go to that meeting I told you about.”

“You still going?” My parents loved volunteer work—admittedly, they could afford to indulge themselves in that kind of thing—they were wealthy, but they didn’t do it for any reason other than they really did enjoy it. Mom was returning from one of the Ebola-stricken countries where she’d been assisting some of the physicians there. She had some medical training, but mostly she’d just wanted to help. I’d worried about her the entire time she’d been there—a whole month—it didn’t sound safe over there at all.

“Yes, I’m still going, and stop frowning. Thousands of volunteers go there every year and nothing has ever happened to them. I’m going to follow all the rules and procedures. So, stop worrying and get to work.” I knew there was no sense in arguing with him. When Doug Anderson had his mind made up, nothing could stop him.

“You know, you two could at least go together. Why do you have to take two separate trips? And I’m going to work now, but I’d rather send you to pick her up, though. I’ve got intern interviews today. I hope we get some smart, dedicated kids this year.”
